Held post of assistant secretary for a year providing assistance to the secretary in secretarial work which includes writing minutes minutes, monthly reports which are submitted to the mother club i.e. Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North, club membership count, annual report submissions which are submitted to the Lions Club District 308-B1 Office.

Leadership Skills

  • Served as Assistant Secretary for 1 year and Secretary for another 1 year in Leo Club of Sultan Abdul Samad Secondary School. Led the club together with the president and vice president of the club organizing various activities such as leadership talks, fund raising event, visits and charity events.
  • Attended Leo School for Key Officers, Board of Directors and Leo Advisors twice to improve skills of running a club effectively.
  • Elected as organizing chairperson and secretary for various events.
  • Received Top Secretary Award in the District 308-B1 from the parent organization, Lions Club International and Certificate of Exceptional Service from the school administration.
  • Served as Secertary of the Society of Engineering and Techonology in Taylor’s College for 1 semester. Led the club together with the president and vice president of the club gathering members to participate in activities and visits to industrial plants and engineering related areas.
  • Held post as sub-editor for the first issue of the School of Engineering’s newsletter – The Engineering Newsletter.

Initiative and Motivation

  • Developed a more efficient system in organizing secretarial paper work.
  • Raised a total amount of around RM10000 for the club together with other Board of Directors over a two-year period through fund raising events in school and joint events with other Leo and Interact Clubs in the region.
  • Gathered and coordinated the newsletter’s section editors and contributors to work together in harmony and to produce an appealing and sought after newsletter for the School of Engineering competing with other newsletter published by other departments in Taylor’s College.

Service to Society

  • Involved in various activities and events organized by Leo Clubs in the region and parent organization, Lions Club.
  • Visited homes for the elderly, homes for the orphans, PAWS and SPCA.
  • Participated in fund raising events held by the Leo Club, other Leo Clubs and Lions Clubs.

Artistic Expression

  • Studied music for 6 years and learning how to play the organ.
  • Self-taught skills in playing the piano.
  • Studied literature in secondary school e.g. works of Shakespeare, poems by various poets, short stories and novels.
  • Participated in drama performances at school level in school.
  • Served as tenor in school choir which performed at major events held in school e.g. sports days, prize giving ceremonies, VIP visits etc.
  • Served as sub-editor for The Engineering Newsletter which challenged the vocabulary limit to produce high quality and interesting reads for readers to indulge in.

PERSONAL

Enjoy motivating and helping others – enjoy teamwork – willing to learn anything new – enjoy doing activities outside technical areas.
