Are Parents Always Rite?

Filed under: Blahs, Confessions, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 9:07 pm

Every single teen in this world has parents, even orphans once had parents. Parents has been nurturing us since the day we were only a single cell until the current age we are now. Every parent sure has scolded or punished their child at least once in their lifetime useless they’re not a parent at all. However, non-parents is currently not the topic. Parents always teach us what they think we should be in the future when we are grown-ups by teaching us the proper ways of doing everything “correctly”.

On the other hand, not everything they think is rite is always rite. We are now in the 21st century, but, our parents way of thinking is still stuck and imprisoned in the 20th century. Many things in the 20th century that we considered proper is now considered improper and wrong. Of course when they tell us something that we think that is improper in today’s world we would respond by telling them that it is wrong and improper. However, as most parents are, they think that they are always rite and the child’s opinions are always wrong.

In my household, I always exercise my rights to voice out my opinions and the freedom of speech in a democratic country like Malaysia. Whatever my parents say that I think is wrong, I would always give my opinion on it. However, the rule “the parents are always rite” strictly applies in my house and therefore, my opinions are always thrown down the drain without any consideration. All my opinions are rubbish and always end up with a “bad scenario”.

What do you think? Should parents remove all their child’s rights to voice out their opinions and thoughts? Or should they be more moderate and “loving” by giving us a little more freedom to express our feelings?

Exercise Your Rights!

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Opinions — Guang @ 6:10 pm

Today, my English lecturer in college has taught us that we should exercise our rights wherever we are especially in the work place. As all of us teens have already gone through, more than 14 years of our lives are actually filled with unfair and one-sided decisions that do not prescribe fairness and just. I’m sure the world would be a better place if there aren’t any ambiguous and unfair terms, regulations, rules and laws.

I’m very sure all of us have heard about unions being formed to defend and demand fairness for a certain group of people (if you are still blur, one very obvious example is the student council present in every school, college, university and every other educational institute). However, nowadays, even the student council is not fulfilling its purpose of defending its own kind but now, they are only protecting and defending for those who are in the inner circle of the council and not other members.

For colleges, student councils are supposed to hold an election for the students of the college to choose their most trusted leader and protector. However, in my college its otherwise. Elections are held within a small group of people which consists of class representative which have been bribed of their votes! What happened to the student council? Such a corrupted mind cannot protect the students right but actually do more harm than good.

Some class representatives have already complained about the unfairness of the student council during meetings where not every representative was given equal attention. Some class representatives which are closer to the exco members of the council profit from it by getting more attention and extra rights during meetings. Its just like the power of veto that is given to the US, China, France, UK and Russia. This is unshamingly undemocratic!

It seems that in today’s world, nothing is fair anymore, even unions founded to protect rights are also now undemocratic anymore. What has happened to our leaders?

Chat or Debate?

Filed under: Blahs, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 9:34 am

Since the dawn of civilization, humans have evolved from primitive primates to sophisticated homo sapiens that are now the dominant species on the surface of the Earth (I’m not sure whether there are anything living under the surface of the Earth). We have created the car, the the micro-processor and we have created the most miraculous thing in the entire world for us youths, the computer! From the first computer in the world, Apple to Hyper Threading Technolgy and multi-tasking, we have gone very far since the existence of Apple. One of the miracle inventions of the technology world is Instant Messaging or also known as IM. IM has enabled us to communicate with other youths thousands of miles away. However, certain chat users just do not seem to chat with me. They just love to conduct debates about small microscopic topics that are just a lame thing to do.

Everything that I say is turned into a debate topic. From annoying governmental exams to bias teachers to identical twins to similarity of individuals in the world and on and on. How can a topic from annoying governmental exams switch all the way to similarity of individuals in the world? A debate is usually on one single specific topic however, debates on IMs are an award winning 5 topics or more! It gets pretty annoying when a nice conversation is flowing smoothly then suddenly it changes from Earth to Mercury which has a hot topic or multiple hot topics on debate. I know its good to defend your thoughts but however, you can’t just go againts everything. The world is made for people to express their thoughts and also to accept thoughts of others.

This definitely defies the sole purpose of IMs. It is created for people to communicate but however, in this case its has turned into an argument or a quarrel machine! Definitely annoying!

Being Fat is Nice?

Filed under: Blahs, Confessions, Opinions — Guang @ 8:53 pm

Fat, fat, fat. The world’s number one killer. The media has finally taken control over the world by planting in our heads that fat is ugly, horrific, disgusting whereas skinny is beautiful, hot, sexy. What has happened to us now? Why are we so particular about our looks? I am sure that you have some friends that say that they are fat and want to lose more weight although they already have a body as thin as a stick, no, not a stick but a twig! Even having a cylindrical shaped body (which is shaped like a cylinder i.e. no curves on the body shape) is already considered ugly. As each year passes by, models in the media are getting thinner and thinner whereas the rest of the world is getting fatter and fatter. How ironic is this? As the ideal body shape becomes thinner and thinner as specified by the media, the rest of the world is getting fatter and fatter. There is a friend of mine, BigMac*, that loves to munch on anything edible (which includes foods). In just one week, BigMac’s body shape goes from 34 inches to 36 inches! Imagine the disastrous effect after one month which I have already witnessed a short time ago. It is a sight to behold. Whatever it is, it is definitely an eye sore for me.

So how do we actually curb this problem? Exercise? Well, the answer that is usually given is “no time”, “too lazy”, “too tired”, “a waste of time” etc. What has happened to our mentality? Have we evolved from the primitive hardworking homo sapien 2 million years ago to the advanced couch potato lomo sapien? Another way to shed fat of the body is through dieting. I just want to ask anyone out there that does dieting, does the diet that you follow really works? Diets like the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Low-Calorie Diet are now at their peak popularity as the world adds more flab the weighing machine. Many people has tried every single diet in existence on Earth and yet still unable to lose a single gram of fat of their body. How pitiful to actually realize that you will be fat for the rest of your miserable life! For me, I think most skinny people would rather commit suicide than to be fat and round like an apple.

Just look around you. Especially students in colleges, I can assure you that 75% of college students are thin and at the same time, cute, sexy, hot and popular whereas the other 25% is fat, ugly, hideous and insignificant. What kind of discrimination is this? We have come from racial discrimination to fatness discrimination? So think about it before you criticise any fat people around you. Think of others and it yourself into their shoes before saying anything negative about them. If it hurts you then it’ll hurt them too.

All this is a resultant of the media’s ever growing power and their goal to engrave in our heads that being skinny like a twig is the thing everyone must achieve to acclaim the throne to happiness. Don’t get tricked by more of their trickeries and stand up for yourself and express yourself through your inner beauty and not the outer looks. What value does a person have when he or she has a beautiful body and a rotten heart? Think about it!
