A Dream Come True

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Confessions, Nostalgia, Opinions, Time — Guang @ 2:48 pm

Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for has arrived. I thought this moment will never arrive but finally it did! My dad has been telling me that there isn’t any point to do it because I’m only going to use it for 2 years then I’m gone overseas then it’ll be left there aside with hardly any usage at all.

But lately, luck has been on my side. The car I’ve been driving, the Daihatsu Feroza was giving a lot of problems. Minor problems which were very troublesome. Every month my dad has to send the car to the workshop around two to three times just to repair the minor problem which was getting on his nerves. One day, the car really got so sick. It had a major problem. Which was pretty complicated (I’m no car expert, neither am I that interested in cars) and I was driving the car when his problem occurred. Thank goodness I arrived home before the problem became a holocaust.

So my dad finally couldn’t stand it anymore, when he saw the new Perodua Myvi was launched that day in the newspapers, he wasn’t that enthusiastic about that car at all but my mum was. So after a few days, somehow, my mum was persuading him to buy the car which I didn’t know. Then suddenly today, I told my dad that I saw the Perodua Myvi in the showroom yesterday. So after having a delicious and luxurious brunch eating dim sum in Foh San Restaurant in SS2, my dad suddenly said he wanted to go to the showroom to see the car.

I took him there. To my surprise, the showroom was packed with people. Everybody all eager to have a closer look at the car. It was a small car outside but inside it was so spacious. It’s even more spacious than a Proton Wira! The stuff that came together with the car was also awesome! The CD player and the radio was cool.

Oh, and I heard that this Perodua Myvi isn’t 80% locally made! It’s just what the Malaysian government claims only. I went to the Daihatsu website and saw the exact same car just that it has a different name. It called Daihatsu Sirion in Japan. Even the car dealer said that all the main components of the car is all imported from Japan. Well, this made my dad more confident in the car. My dad doesn’t rely on local automobile products. Just look the Proton cars, they aren’t as efficient although they have collaborated with Lotus cars. Look at the Proton Gen2, so many complains were made. Worst was the Proton Tiara, it was a total failure! Useless car. Now my dad knows that this car is actually a Daihatsu so he’s now confident because the Daihatsu Feroza I currently drive lasted more than 10 years.

So the car dealer asked my dad to sit down at the “negotiating” table. As usual, the usual questions like “What’s the price?”, “How long is the waiting list?” etc were asked. Then my finally made up his mind that he is going to buy the car. I was so excited! My mum also was also excited. She said that she wanted a car that was gold color because she loved the look of the car when it is in gold colour. Eventually every financial stuff is settled and then everything was settled.

So now,I have to wait patiently for the car to arrive in 4-6 months time. I just hope that it arrives before Christmas! I just can’t wait! For more information, click here!

Releasing Pressure = Holidays + End of Exams

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Opinions — Guang @ 9:56 am

Finally the much awaited mid-term holidays has arrived. Actually it hasn’t technically started officially because today there are still exams going on. Luckily for me mine ended yesterday at 10.05 a.m. and after that me and a whole group of friends about 15 of us went to Midvalley to celebrate the ending of the ever more stressful mid-year exams that has finally ended yesterday. Unfortunately for those who are taking the biomedical package are still sitting for their Biology paper as I am typing right now.

Yesterday was the funnest day ever since the last time I went out. I and a group of 15 friends drove all the way from college in Subang Jaya to the other end of Petaling Jaya to Midvalley in Kuala Lumpur. Then after that all of us couldn’t decide what movie we wanted to watch. We were all divided in our opinions. So in the end, to solve the problem, we decided that we were going to split up into two groups. One watching Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith and the other watch House of Wax. Of course I wanted to watch Star Wars as it is the last movie I’ve been waiting all these years to watch. All those that went for House of Wax already saw the movie.

After the movie, once again we were undecided in what to eat for our late lunch. It was already 3.30p.m. and we still haven’t ate anything besides the drinks that we bought from the cinema. We were all starving. However, we walked over to the signboard in the middle of the walkway and saw the list of restaurants on it. We stood there like tourist looking at a monument or something historical because we stood there for quite a while looking at the sign board. After much debate and argument, we finally came to a decision that we going to Chilis.

At the restaurant, it took us quite while a settle our order as there were so many of us and the waiter was getting pretty confused with the number of orders. But luckily everything was settled. Then we ate a luxurious and delicious meal. The bill came up to RM500++ but surprisingly we settled the bill faster than we ordered our food. Pretty strange. Anyways, we chat and chat and chat while eating. It was pretty fun.

Came back in the evening, and watched American Idol final results. I was so happy that Carrie Underwood won! I’m so happy! She totally deserves it. She sang so much better than Bo Bice especially the Angels Brought Me Here song. It was wonderful. I totally fell in love with the song the minute I heard it. Carrie Underwood is the new American Idol! Carrie Underwood is the new American Idol! Carrie Underwood is the new American Idol! Yay! I’m pretty in touch with my childish side. I just love jumping around when I’m feeling happy and joyful.

Anyway, the holidays has arrived so it’s time for me to take a break. Time to catch up with my movies and fictional story books. Until next time, “May the Force be with you…” *grins*

Pressure = Exams + Stress

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Frustration, Opinions, Time — Guang @ 2:42 pm

The day has finally arrived. Tomorrow, the first paper for mid-year examinations will be starting. English and Physics. Two papers in a day. Thank goodness none of the other papers are all cramped into one day. And luckily also that Physics is with English so I can focus more on Physics and not English. If Specialist Maths were together with Physics, I think I’ll be experiencing a mental breakdown. Even though that isn’t happening, I am still feeling the stress.

2 days ago when I was trying to do Specialist Maths homework, my brain suddenly went dead. I couldn’t think properly, I tried as hard as I could to think of a solution to the question, I just couldn’t. Nothing came out of my head. It was just blank and in total silence. After trying so hard in agony for about 15 minutes, I gave up. Then later I tried studying Physics. If nothing could come out of my head then I tried to put something into my head, hoping that it would help. So I opened my Physics book and started reading. Reading only, not doing Physics questions. However, my brain still failed me.

When I tried to recall what I’ve just stuffed into my brain, I couldn’t remember anything, nothing at all! I was so disappointed. So in the end, I just gave up doing anything at all and just went to bed to sleep. Since nothing was coming out and going into my head so the best solution was to do absolutely nothing. No thinking, no moving around, no scratching my head for answers, no tapping my pen on the table to squeeze in information into my head, nothing at all, just sleeping and sleeping.

As I recalled, the minute I jumped into bed, I fell straight to sleep because I don’t remember getting up or looking at the ceiling. That shows how tired my brain was that day. And the next day, I woke up late for college. I didn’t even hear my alarm clock ring. Thank goodness there was my mother to save me. So luckily I still managed to catch the train to come to college, if not I’ll be late for college.

All in all, I’ve learnt that we must take as must rest as possible to give our brain a break. Thinking too hard and stuffing too much information into the brain in just under a few hours can be very very stressful to the brain. So if you feel tired, go to sleep. Don’t stress yourself any further because I’m sure you don’t want to risk losing all your hair in the near future.

All Things Straightened Out

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 6:29 pm

Finally action has been taken against our Malaysian Studies lecturer. Justice always prevail. I love my LAN studies head, Mrs. Teoh! Three cheers to Mrs. Teoh! So today when we entered class, we saw that our lecturer had this extremely noticeable and obvious long face. Then when she took attendance she started with the other group first which was awkward because she always start taking attendance from my group first. So from all these signs she was giving us, we definitely knew that Mrs. Teoh had done her job and our letter has reached her!

So after the lecture, she ended the lecture early then said that my group supposed to stay back for a while. Then she told us everything. Why she didn’t want to give us the notes, why she always pick on us and all. So she explained everything to us and we now know the real story behind her mischief (well, the real story is up to you to imagine). So we also told her what we were unhappy about in her lecture and also straighten out the supposedly biasness of the teacher with us and the other group. So now she said that she’ll also pay more attention to the other “smaller” group and will also threat them the same if they were doing their work during lecture.

So now everything’s straighten out and everything has ended peacefully so now we can study Malaysian Studies in peace without any hatred in our hearts. As usual every story has a happy ending (well, not “every story”, at least most of them). Unfortunately, this happy ending is going to be challenged by a more frustrating problem…

Very Logical Brain = Brainless

Filed under: Academic, Blahs, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 6:01 pm

All of us know that Maths teaches us to think logically just as playing chess will. However, this case is otherwise for my Maths lecturer in college whose name I will not include. She’s teaching me Maths and she’s also my mentor. Well, since the starting of the year till around March, she was okay. No problems with her. Until recently she was acting like a dang. Damn danggy.

To tell the story, she started being bi*chy during the SAM Charity Week (for more information about Charity week check out my It was a fun Charity Day post). She told us that during Charity Day classes would be shortened. Well, that information was right until she told us that Charity Day is only from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. but she said that we can continue selling our stuff until whatever time we want. So of course we are delighted to hear that. However, when we told this to our English lecturer, our English lecturer was so surprised to hear us say that our mentor told us this. So as a responsible lecturer, she went to see our mentor and talked to her about this. Then at the end of the day, my mentor called up my class representative and told her why did we say that we could sell until whatever time we want. She was acting on the phone as if she didn’t even tell us at all. She’s like “mental”. How can we be wrong? 22 pairs of ears heard the same thing and she’s claiming that she never said it at all! Oh my goodness (well, I want to use the word “God” as in “Oh My God!” but I think I should mind my manners in public)!

Besides that, before the Charity Week, we are supposed to organize our class to start selling stuff on Charity Day. To my class’s surprise, we found out so many things that our mentor supposed to tell us but she didn’t even tell us a single thing. If we didn’t ask other groups, we would be in total havoc! She was assuming that we already know! What kind of mentor that assumes that his/her mantee already know something important?! Such a bi*ch.

Then this week, she started giving loads and I say loads mean stacks and tons of homework! What does she think? Are we only studying Maths? We still have to study for Specialist Maths, Chemistry, Physics and English! Not including Malaysian Studies. She’s like giving us homework as if we don’t need to sleep and do other important stuff like eating and other daily chores. This is just unacceptable! She gave so much homework and she expect us to finish it by the next day! Even those hardworking ones in class couldn’t finish! Brainless lecturer and mentor! Doesn’t think before she does anything.

Oh and today was the worst! Tomorrow was Teacher’s Day so our classes are shortened again. But then we found out classes ended at 11a.m. then continued again at 1p.m. We found that we only have one more lecture to attend to so we asked our lecturer to bring the lecture earlier to an earlier time so that we don’t need to wait for 2 hours just to study for another 35 minutes of Maths. She started making excuses that she doesn’t want to teach for 3 hours straight and blah blah blah. Then we requested that we brought the class forward to today after college from 3 - 3.35 p.m. to replace tomorrow’s Maths lecture. She gave another excuse that she wanted to do this and do that and blah blah blah again. So then we asked her whether she could teach us during our break time because our break time is too short to even have a break. So as usual she said no again as she has another class to teach. So we said we could switch lessons with other lecturers to fit her timetable so she said okay.

So our “best class representative ever” went to ask our Chemistry and Physics lecturer to switch and they agreed to switch. So then my class representative called my mentor a.k.a. Maths lecturer to tell her that there is an available lesson for her to teach us during her free period. But this time, she was so brainless that she couldn’t even understand what is “available lesson for her to teach”. My class representative have to explain to her countless times to make her understand. When she finally understood, she said that switching lessons must have the permission of the management and all those nuisance again. She said that must have permission for this and that and blah blah blah but 3 hours ago, she agreed to change periods if we could find a free lesson for her. Now when we found one for her, she comes and tell us that we need permission for all this sh*tty changes and blah blah blah. Where as, the other two lecturer didn’t even say a thing about getting permission for changing class lessons or one day! Oh my gosh! WTF! I’m really pissed off!

The stupidness of my mentor is unbelievable. She can’t remember what she said just a few hours ago. The first time was the Charity week thing now the small class change thing! Somehow, Maths has turned her from being a very logical thinking person to a totally brainless idiot! Why every time I go to a new educational institute, I get these useless, brainless and bi*chy lady teachers? Why? Since primary school till college now, its the same story. I thoguht that today will be a good day after we settled everything with our Malaysian Studies lecturer but now this stupid thin come. It turns out that today wasn’t such a good day at all.

Ka-ching, Ka-ching

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, I Love Malaysia, Opinions — Guang @ 4:56 pm

Today I finally opened my bank account after so many days of going to the bank and finding out that the bank is already closed. So today, I rushed home right after college ended and when I reached home, I quickly washed my face to refresh myself and drove to the bank to catch the closing bell. Thank goodness, I managed to reach the bank 15 minutes just before they sealed their doors tight.

Oh yeah, opening a bank account is as easy as counting 1, 2, 3… All I needed was just a pen to fill up the details in the form that the teller has ticked for me to guide me through. Everything was filled up in a flash and I handed in the form to the teller. Then she did the rest of the paper work as I just sat there smsing my friend. I must took her 5 minutes to get everything ready. She even finished my passbook in a blink of an eye. I also applied for an ATM card. Yay! Now I also got ATM card! Haih but it’s not a credit card. How sad, cannot go shopping with the card. Well, there’s always my dad’s credit card. Oh, and I only can withdraw a maximum amount of RM200 a day. Well, RM200 a day is more than enough for me. Like I’m going to spend RM200 a day. Besides, my account is still quite empty. Not much “ka-ching, ka-ching” yet.

Oh well, that means now I have to keep saving more money so I can save it in the bank and get so money by interests. Well,it’s much better than keeping the money at home because there’s no interests keeping the money at home. Furthermore, it’s safer to keep money in the bank. Must build the habit to save more money although I do save money since a long time ago. Better brush up my “skills” in saving up money.

A Feeling of Satisfaction

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Frustration — Guang @ 7:10 pm

Finally! After many days of grumbling and groaning about my Malaysian Studies lecturer, the deed is finally done! Everything is all set and now, I and my group just have to wait for the results. The letter explaining all the wrong of the lecturer has been handed in to the authorities today. Action will be taken and justice will prevail! Students rule the college, not the lecturers!

Well, tomorrow the first subject is malaysian Studies. Hmmm, must see her face again one last time before she’ll realise who is in charge here. Lecturers can’t just simply do anything they want and hurt our feelings. we are paying them to teach us and not to threaten and play around with lame nonsense with us.

Finally a short period of relief for me as I know now the problem will be resolved as soon as possible as I know the college authorities’ moto is - “the student comes first” (well, that’s what I think it is). Well, at least I can feel more calm and serene about Malaysian Studies. But I have to go study now, Malaysian Studies quiz tomorrow. Haih….

My Series of Unfortunate Events

Filed under: Blahs, Frustration, Time — Guang @ 10:01 pm

Yesterday, Friday, May 6th was officially the worst day ever throughout this whole week not Thursday. To start off my day, I woke up late. Much later than the usual time that I usually wake up every weekdays which is 6 a.m. but I woke up at 6.30 a.m. So of course, instinct tells me that I must rush to catch the train. If not I won’t be able to reach college in time. Swallowed breakfast in 3 minutes then rushed out of the house to the train station.

While walking to the train station, I noticed that the sky was getting dark. Very very dark. Well, nothing much I could do with the weather. Reached the train station and walked to the ticketing counter and found out that I didn’t bring my wallet. Hell was I pissed off. But luckily I brought my coin bag so I put in all my 10 cents coins I had in the bag to buy my 1 dollar ticket. Thank goodness I had enough. So walked to the platform to wait for the train. In the midst of waiting for the train, it started to drizzle. Drizzle with big drops of water falling down. Actually it can be considered, light rain. So of course I’ll disappointed that it started to rain as I still have to take a 15 minute walk from the train station to college.

The train came and I ran into the cabin to avoid getting drenched by the rain. Reached the other train station and the rain this time really started to pour. So I took my umbrella and started walking with my friend which luckily has his own umbrella. While taking the gruelling 15 minute walk to college, the wind started to pick up. My umbrella was such a stick that just a small gust of wind, the umbrella threatened to open up. Thank goodness I managed to control it and it didn’t open up. Well, although the umbrella didn’t give way, I still got wet by the slashes of rain by the wind and got totally drench from the knee down.

After a torturing 15 minute walk, I finally reached my college and thought that everything was going to be over but, no it wasn’t. When I entered the class, it was like an oven. The air-conditioning system wasn’t working. Oh my goodness! From getting drenched wet to super hot and humid was a terrible feeling. It was like locking yourself up in a small cupboard with no vents! But thank God that the ordeal ended after that. But it was really an unfortunate day for me. How is it possible that 5 unfortunate events could happen in 1 hour. It’s like an unfortunate event every 10 minutes! Well, at least I was still able to continue my day after that particular unfortunate hour. I guess that there is a silver lining behind every dark cloud in the sky.
