Shopping Haven

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Confessions, I Love Malaysia, Nostalgia, Opinions — Guang @ 10:07 pm

For 18 years of my life, I think I can say that Malaysia is truly a shopping haven. Discounts here and there, warehouse clearance here and there, clearance sales everywhere! I love it! People go crazy over things that are so cheap. Especially now. It’s the Megasale Carnival throughout Malaysia. Well, at least this is one point I like about the government’s doings. Megasale! Megasale! And it’s not an annual thing, it’s held 3 times a year and it’s all during the holiday season which is great for me because I can go shopping for the whole day.

Even my parents love sales so much. Just two days ago, my parents wanted to go to Midvalley just to have a little walk after dinner. Then we walked into Jusco and saw banners’ hanging around saying discounts up to 70%!!! Wow! So we just walked in without any intention of buying anything. Then came the shoes section. OMG! Shoes, shoes everywhere. It’s a pleasure to the eyes just to look at them. Then we passed a section saying that 70% off for all shoes in this section. OMG! It’s Admiral shoes! 70% off! It’s a must buy! So all of us just stated picking up shoes and looking for nice shoes to try on.

After half an hour of trying every shoe in the section we finally decided what we wanted to buy. I bought a black shoe partly leather, partly canvas. It was originally MYR158.90. After discount it was MYR47.60!!! OMG!!! It’s unbelievably cheap! Then I bought other sandals for MYR24.90 which was originally MYR83.00. Then came the clothes! Wow! Padini, SEED, NiC, Chargers, Bluetoms, Suave all on discount. So my whole family grabbed a whole stack of clothes and lined up to pay. Even the line was so long.

All together, my family spent MYR500.00 in just one night of shopping. With almost 9 bags full of clothes, shoes and many more stuff. Wow! Next target to shopping is U-Parkson at 1Utama. Even the prices there are almost comparable with Jusco’s prices. Well, must bring my parents along again next weekend for shopping. To round everything up, all of you people out there go out shopping now! Spend everything you’ve got by the end of this month if not there isn’t anymore opportunities for the next 3 months. So hurry! Shop till you drop!

Smokers…

Filed under: Almost-classics, Blahs, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 11:16 am

First of all, to all smokers out there, do not be offended by this post as it is only my opinion and mine only, it’s not the view of the whole world so do not be offended by this post. If you feel that you have the slightest doubt about reading this post, please do not proceed reading.

Smokers… They just don’t realize how annoying they are to non-smokers all around them. Everytime a smoker comes close, the feeling of annoyance and irritation sets in. Just have the smell of smoke all around you is just terrible. It makes you cough, it makes you sneeze. It’s just an irritant and nothing else besides a pleasurable habit for smokers.

First of all, why do you smoke? What is so nice about smoking. I’m sure all smokers realize how dangerous it is to smoke for extended periods of time. In just one cigarette, there are almost 200 chemicals that are found to cause cancer which makes up the majority of the contents of the cigarette.

Why do you think that cigarettes are fashionable and stylish? First of all, everytime you come out of the toilet smelling like smoke all around is definitely a repelling force to everyone around you. Even to your friends that doesn’t smoke, they just don’t say anything about it because they feel that you may be offended with them saying that you stink like hell!

Another thing I find very annoying is that when there is a smoker in front of you and the wind is blowing on your face, all those smelly, unhygenic, stinky, polluting, unhealthy, disgusting, irritating, annoying and cancer causing smoke come to your face and you have no choice but to inhale it because it’s our instinct to survive and to breathing is to survive. We can’t hold our breaths forever. At the end of the day, when we go meet with our friends, they ask why am I so smelly. Did I smoke? It’s an insult to ask a person who doesn’t smoke whether he smokes.

Besides that, although you may be aware that with every puff of smoke, you are killing yourself, but you must also realize that you are killing others around you too. Second hand smoke is actually more prone to cause cancer compared to first hand smoke. According to statistics, it is 30% more probable that a person that inhales second hand smoke is more likely to suffer from cancer compared to the smoker himself.

Are you not ashamed of yourself?! You are not only killing yourself, you are also killing your friends and family and those all around you. No wonder the cancer rate in the world is rising dramatically. Useless, shameless, irritating, annoying, irresponsible murderers that act like bastards as if they are so fashionable and stylish. Damn it you people! All smokers are bastards including those females that smoke. Females that smoke are even worse, they are an eyesore to the society. They are bitches. So to round up, smokers are bastards and bitches! And they should be hated and killed and burnt to death like those witches and wizards in the dark ages.

OMG! English Tutorial!!!

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Opinions, Time — Guang @ 12:28 pm

OMG!!! I’m like nervous hell right now! Today marks the start of a week of total torture and nerve wrecking hell! The day of doom has arrived! All students fear this very day. Well, at least for me… It’s really the end of the world! Noooo!!

Well, to those that have no idea what a tutorial is, this is the full comprehensive explanation of the topic. English tutorial is an internal assessment that is compulsory for all South Australian Matriculation students to take. It requires students to research on a topic which is debatable and then presenting it to the class by means of a tutorial which is teaching the class about the topic you’ve researched on. There is a 4 minute presentation of the topic to the audience, then a 2 minute Q&A session and followed by a nerve wrecking discussion session. Although this may sound easy, time is crucial in this. Besides that, whatever that you’ve researched on and concluded in the study must have the same outcome for the tutorial session. If the conclusion is otherwise then we can say bye bye to 10% of our total marks for assessment.

OMG! Today, there are 4 students presenting there research topic. And mine is due on Wednesday. When teacher said that she was going to choose who is going to be the audience, everyone was nerve wrecked! My hands were shivering and my whole body start to shake in the cold air in the class room. In the end, she only chose 3 students to be the audience. So it all adds up to be 6 audiences for each presenter.

Although it may still sound pretty easy, there’s still the preparation part. As I said above timing is crucial, therefore, one must time himself to finish his presentation on time. Then during the Q&A session one must answer questions without referring to the notes. And if the audience have no question to ask, then more marks will be deducted from the overall marks. This is terrible. Presenting a small presentation in front of class is already tough enough, imagine teaching a group of students what you’ve jus researched on and hope that they fully understand what you’ve just taught them.

OMG! Mine is due on Wednesday and that’s like the worst day to have a tutorial because, on the same day, I also have Maths Common Test on the same day! OMG! Imagine all the preparation I have to do! Well, all I need to do now, is to start preparing for my tutorial session and time myself and make sure everything is perfect!

Help Me Out People!

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Frustration, I Love Malaysia, Opinions — Guang @ 3:47 pm

Lately, there has been a lot of commotions in my family. And these commotions all started from choosing the colour for the new Perodua Myvi car. We could agree upon what colour not to choose but, we couldn’t agree on what colour to choose exactly. Should it be Glittering Silver, Mocca Silver, Olive Green, or Klasik Gold. Yea, yea… I know, the colours are boring but what can I do, I have to cater to my parents’ taste too.

Below are some pictures of the various colours of the cars that my parents and I agreed upon…

Glittering Silver

Mocca Silver

Klasik Gold Olive Green So help me out people! Post your suggestion in the comments link below. Thanks! * thanks to paultan.org for the wonderful pictures…

Excellent Japanese Horror

Filed under: Blahs, Opinions — Guang @ 8:32 pm

Recently, I have developed a very high respect for Japanese horror film directors. They’re just full of surprises waiting for us to get frightened by. Well, today I went to GSC 1Utama Shopping Centre for a movie. We couldn’t decide whether to watch Six, Amityville Horror, Ghost Inside or Premonition. After much debate in front of the ticketing counter which was by the way was surprisingly empty at that time of day on a Saturday afternoon, we decided to watch, no, it’s not Amityville Horror, neither it is Six, we decided to watch Premonition. Well, from my introduction I think you all should have a clue to what movie I was going to watch because of all the movies listed down above, Premonition is the only Japanese film in the list.

Well, after being 10 minutes late for the movie, thank goodness the movie hasn’t started rolling yet, we sat in our spacious seat in the D row. Then settled in to wait for the movie to start. However after waiting for almost 30 minutes, the damn movie still hasn’t started yet. What kind of system is this! Typical Malaysian culture.

When the movie finally started, I thought it was going to be just another so so horror movie like the The Ring English version and Samara. After 10 minutes into the movie, I started to realize that the movie wasn’t going to be that boring. Well, I’m not going to tell the whole plot here. I’m only going to blog about the excellent talents of Japanese horror film directors.

Of course during a horror movie, when the background music fades off, usually there is going to be a scare coming soon in the movie. However, it was otherwise for this movie. Whenever I expect a horror scene coming up in the movie, it doesn’t happen. The music fades off into a erie silence and then fingers ready beside the ears to close the ears if the horror comes but the horror never came. But when you least expect top be a horror or a scary scene, it comes like a lightning strike. Without any indication that it’s coming. Goodness, I had so many jumps everytime I see a Japanese horror movie. I must give credit to those directors. I can say that they really know what they are doing unlike those western directors that just can’t make horror shows scary enough to give a nice scare to the audience.

Well, to those people out there that wants a good scare, you are recommended to watch Premonition. This recommendation is based on my opinion and my views and thoughts alone for the show. So if you find that Premoniton is boring, well, you can just say that the show isn’t your cup of tea but it is for me. So be prepared if you do decide to watch Premonition.

Boo!!!

LAN is Over!

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, I Love Malaysia, Opinions — Guang @ 3:04 pm

Finally, the moment all students waited for has finally arrived. LAN is finally over! Yesterday was the last examination that we were supposed to sit for. Actually for most of us, we just need to come for the exam to pass the subject. All we need is to pass the subject then we can get our certificate of higher learning. I’ve calculated just before the test that I just need another 2 more marks to pass the test. I already got 48% from group assignments, projects, quizzes and attendance. Basically we need 50% to pass the subject, so I just need to answer another 2 questions is the paper correct and I will definitely pass the subject.

Hooray for me! Not missing a single class of LAN definitely paid off. Just attending the classes contributed like 10% of my overall marks! Isn’t that incredible! That’s like 2 grades! Amazing. Anyway, back to the topic… We are finally free!!! Yay! Yay! Lalala!!! Okay… Must cool down. Deep breaths, deep breaths… Okay. No more boring classes. No more stupid quizzes and no more boring discussions about Malaysian history. By the way, Malaysian history is very dry. Nothing interesting at all. Compared to other countries’ historical records, they definitely have a more interesting past compared to us. We just had a little hiccups here and there but there isn’t anything else. No civil war, no technological achievements, no scientific achievements, no breakthrough in any fields of research, no race to the moon, no cold wars (like that is going to happen again), no cultural revolution, nothing…

All we just had is just some guy from Sumatra coming over to Malacca to start a settlement, some boring royals that ruled the territory, Europeans coming over to conquer us, fight for human rights by primitive tribes against the technologically advanced whites, boring Whitemen coming into the country, forcing the royals to sign unfair treaties, the struggle for independence which was just negotiations, some racial uprising that led to more annoying laws to be enacted etc etc. Imagine the boredom that set in everytime there is Malaysian Studies.

Thank goodness that all of it has ended. It all ended at 4:23:43 PM yesterday! The joy all started when the invigilator announced to stop writing and put our pencils down. All the joy in every students’ face were obvious. All waiting to explode in joy and jump around like little kids of age 4 years. Just sitting there to wait for the clock to pass the time is nerve wrecking. Anyway, it all ended and peace has settled into the world again, the terrorists has given up their fight in the name of Islam and the United States is no longer a superpower. Yay! (Imagine that I said that sarcastically) Anywayz, till the next time…

It’s All About Blondes

Filed under: Blahs, Frustration, Opinions — Guang @ 12:40 pm

Recently, I noticed a slight increase of young teenage males having their hair bleached until their hairs turn blonde. I also noticed that most of them are Chinese or have similar skin colour with the Chinese such as Burmese, Vietnamese, Korean etc. Just imagine a Chinese with a blonde hair. Totally blonde all over except maybe the roots of the hair which shows a little black hair. Whatever it is, it look horrible. Blonde hair is only suitable for those ang-mo (hokkien for white people or Mat Salleh). It looks terrible. It makes their hair stand out so much that you’ll only notice the hair and not his face or clothes When you look at a guy, a “Chinese” looking guy with blonde hair, it looks horrible! Terrible! Vegetable!

To add to the horror, they’ll include a terrible hairstyle to match the already terrible horrific hair. It’s a fashion disaster! The fashion police should be called to access this emergency situation and should be asked to bring those fashion criminals to a lockup to protect the public from getting a terrible eye sore!

Besides having a bundle of striking blonde hair on top their skulls, they also have another problem. You’ll notice that those “special” blondes usually like to over accesorize. Long shiny and chiming chains on their necks, numerous amounts of rings on their fingers, sharp, pointy and also shiny belts and more long swinging chains on their trousers. The just are too distracting especially in the middle of public. They stand out so much that they look like they’re the only ones standing in the middle of a crowd and the crowd is just air swirling all around them.

Spooky.

The Rainy Season’s Here

Filed under: Blahs, Frustration, I Love Malaysia, Opinions, Time — Guang @ 3:57 pm

Or is it supposed to be here yet? Normally, the rainy season usually happens during the summer and winter equinox. However, the summer and winter equinox has already passed and it is almost reaching the end of the season, going into the spring and autumn solstice. As I recall, during the pass few months, it hardly rained a single drop. Not a single drop of rain fell for a stretch of 3 to 4 weeks. Imagine the hotness without a single drop of rain to cool the air down. Although the air is pretty cool at night, the main focus is still in the day time.

I walk home from college most of the weekdays and I’ve noticed that the weather is getting hotter and hotter day by day. The grass around and along the streets and in the lawn’s of houses are turning brown. Dying in vain without a single drop of water to rely upon. Although grass is considered a very hardy plant species, they still need water to survive, without water, all they can do is to cling on to dear life and pray for the rain to come but grass don’t have religion neither they have the ability to think. How sad if we didn’t water supply directed straight to our home. With a turn of a tap, clean, clear water starts flowing out of the tap. We should consider ourselves lucky although sometimes we do have water rationing.

Back to the topic, the weather. Well, it’s changing. It’s pretty obvious it’s changing. Number of hurricanes increasing. Hurricane strength increasing every season, more floods happening, more drought in Africa, more snow blizzards, more of everything bad the weather can offer us. What have we done? What have we been pumping into the atmosphere that is causing all these alterations. Look at those developed countries, all releasing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases like it’s nothing. How many millions of tons of pollutant gases they pump into the atmosphere every year.

Although there is the Kyoto Protocol, it hasn’t really fulfilled it’s full purpose of lowering the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. Most of the developing and developed countries in the world joined and agreed to the Kyoto Protocol terms. However, without the big guns like Australia and the United States which all together releases 30% of the whole world’s pollution into the air, the Kyoto Protocol has failed. Just because Australia and United States wants to protect its industry and being selfish to the world and not trying to save the world from total destruction, the world is now suffering more than ever. Even the United States and Australia are in the list of mother nature’s destruction.

Look at the 26th December tsunami that engulfed Acheh in Indonesia and several other countries in the Indian Ocean. Even the amount of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions has increased this year. All this definitely have connections. They don’t just happen for no reason. A sudden increase of all these catastrophic disasters happening everywhere is pretty obvious that mother nature is telling us to stop. Stop polluting her anymore. Stop the releasing of pollutants into the atmosphere. Stop everything that is destroying her. She can’t stand it anymore. It’s time that we humans, the smarter and more intelligent species on Earth start thinking of a way to stop this problem from developing anymore further. It’s time for us to work together with mother nature. She provides and we give her back what we’ve taken in the natural way and some other altered way that we are doing right now.

So think about it…
