Operation Sickness…

Filed under: Blahs — Guang @ 9:12 pm

Today was an uneventful day. Only one thing happened. Today I brought my younger dog, Pepper, to DBKL-SPCA in Setapak to be spayed. Was so worried for her. I was also worried for myself. I am now still in the midst of my unfortunate illness which is getting worse by the day. I wasn’t as bad yesterday but now a fever has developed.

Brought Pepper there waited like the whole afternoon for our turn as there are also other people wanting to say their dogs and cats. We waited from 1.30pm. When it was Pepper’s turn, it was already 3.30pm. The vet said that it’ll take around 20 - 30 minutes for the operation to complete. Waited and waited and waited while my illness got worse and worse by the minute. Swallowed a Panadol and everything felt better for a while.

When the operation was done, my dog looked so pitiful. On the floor motionless with her eyes looking blank and lifeless. The anesthetics is still flowing in her blood this very second. She’s recovered but still feeling dizzy and tired. She’s having a rest now. And so do I. I’m feeling sooo sick now. I think I better go rest before it gets worse…

Here’s a picture of Pepper for all to see (it’s pretty old but still has most of the resemblance)…

Great! Just Great!

Filed under: Announcements, Frustration, Time — Guang @ 9:08 pm

It’s just slightly over one week into the end-year holidays and I am already sick! What a great coincidence. I never fell awfully sick since January and of all times I must fall sick after everything’s settled and the time celebrate life arrives. What a depressing thought to think about.

Today I spent the whole morning sleeping until almost lunch time, then ate lunch and continued sleeping somemore. Then dinner came. Ate dinner then watched television for 2 hours and now I’m here blogging. What an uneventful day it was for me today. I hope tomorrow things will improve but I still need to catch some rest to recover.

Okay, I think that’s all I’ve to blog about. Till the next time.

SAM Corroboree 2005 (with pictures)

Filed under: Blahs, Nostalgia, Time — Guang @ 11:10 am

One really hectic day for me. Here the story goes. First I woke up in the morning and had breakfast. After breakfast, I received a call from Taylors College saying that the cheque I submitted the other day to pay my fees was returned by the bank. Of course, we were pretty surprised. The lady told me that it was written on the cheque “one thousand five only” when it was supposed to be “one thousand five hundred only”. So after breakfast, my mum and I went to college to settle the cheque. Settled, came back and did nothing for a while.

Then around 12pm, I was supposed to leave for my saloon appointment at 1pm. However, my friend still wasn’t here yet. So I waited until around 12.30pm, then I couldn’t wait any longer, I left the house. Reached there, he called me and asked me to wait somewhere so that we can have lunch together. Fine, I obliged to is request. Waited until 12.50pm and he “finally” came. Ate lunch nearby and went for my saloon appointment half and hour late. Anyway nothing to worry about. There were 3 stylists there, so it wasn’t long to wait.

Chose my hair color and the whole process of colouring the hair started. He cut my hair first, then later only applied the stuff onto my head. It took like forever. Everything was done by 5pm. Got home, gave my car a quick 10 minute shower and then I gave myself another quick 10 minute shower. After that, I started to get dressed. That took like 30 minutes due to a problem I faced in tying my tie. I just couldn’t get the correct length. I needed the edge of my tie to just reach my belt buckle. After like 8 tries, I finally got it. What an accomplishment!

Left, the house at 6pm to Subang to fetch a few friends. They were still at the saloon getting their hair and nails done. They were already very late. Rushed to the house and they got dressed. Waited until 6.40pm for the girls to get ready. By that time, we were already late because we were supposed to be there at 6.30pm. Anyways, they came got into the car and rushed to Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel. Even going there, we faced many obstacles. The most obvious obstacle was the rush hour traffic. The horror!

When we finally got to the hotel and got a parking, it was already 7.15pm. Definitely late, got to the ballroom and saw a whole lot of other SAM students lining outside to get themselves registered. All looking at their best with their dresses and suits. After everyone was settled down, the agenda started. Speeches, presentations that I will not utter in here as it will be twice as boring it could be as it is over there.

Dinner was served at 8.20pm. Talking about food, the food wasn’t worth the RM90 we all had to pay. It was lousy and there were just too much of it that we just couldn’t finish. More performances and other activities. Went out for a while to get some photos captured. Clicked here and there. Got back in for the lucky draw but didn’t strike a single thing. Ate more and more until we were so full we just couldn’t bear to take another bite.

Okay okay, it’s getting a little boring.. I should just skip it to the end. At the end, the dance floor was opened and students went crazy on it. Well, we didn’t join those uncivilized people there. A few of us, Amy, E-Ling, Wai Soon and me decided to leave and go to San Francisco Coffee or any pub but just couldn’t decide. Took us like 20 minutes until 12.30am to decide. So we went to the Ritz nearby, however, the person outside said that the pub is going to close at 1am but he suggested Galaxy upstairs, so we went kareoke! Sang our heads off until around 3am and finally went home an had a very very good night’s sleep.

The end.

The pics has arrived! Finally!

The Day Has Come!

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Opinions, Time — Guang @ 8:58 pm

As of today, all SAM students has all ended what we all have been preparing for since January 2005, the final exams. What’s next? What’s next?! It’s the much awaited SAM Corroboree. Just in case you don’t know what’s that, it’s actually a prom. Similar to what all colleges have at the end of the course.

I heard many rumours that some students actually spent from a range of RM500 - RM1500 just to get their prom clothes. OMG! RM1500?! That’s crazy! Why spend RM1500 just for a 4 hour night?

Anyway, forget about that. Tomorrow will be the day! The day we all have been talking about since August. The day we all would remain carved in our memories for eternity. Okay okay, not for eternity but at least for a long time to come. Everyone will be looking at their best tomorrow and will have the time of their lives.

Although we’ll be having the time of our lives, I’m not very sure what’s going to happen after that. I read a survey that 87% of Americans loose their virginity on prom night. Wow! I wonder is this value true for Malaysia too! It’ll be pretty surprising but maybe the value would be lower but it could be higher also! That would remain a mystery for us to ponder until official statistics are released by the government.

Anyway, am looking forward for tomorrow’s event and so as many other SAM students. I hope it will be a memorable event. It better be! I paid RM90 for that. The food should be good too, if it sucked, the organizers are so going to regret it. They’ll regret that they even joined the organizing committee in the first place. If it does happen, God bless them…

Oh yea, I’ll post pics from the prom as soon as I get them! So just keep tuning in.

The Time Has Come!

Filed under: Academic, Announcements, Blahs, Time — Guang @ 8:40 pm

Starting tomorrow, the 7th of November 2005 is the time when all SAM (South Australian Matriculation) students all around the world will be tested for all our effort that we all have been putting in since the 3rd of January 2005 until this very day through a full-scale examination by SSABSA (Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia). It’s such a thrill to know that we’ve just completed one and a half year’s worth of study in only 10 months and the time has come where all the knowledge that we’ve cramped into the brain in such a short period of time will be tested in just 5 days. 5 days!! We’ve studied our heads off for 10 months just to sit for a 5 day examination which last 3 hours each day!

Wow! I am already amazed with myself being able to last so far! Time really flew past both my eyes and I didn’t even catch a glimpse of it. It was as if yesterday was the 3rd of January when I just started college, sitting in a class full of strangers, none whom I knew of that came from all walks of life. They traveled far and wide just to learn, just to acquire knowledge which is so precious to us and important for survival in a brutal and cruel world of commercialism and industrialism. And here I am sitting in front of the computer in my room blogging about the final exams starting tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow until the 18th of November 2005, SAM students all around the world will unite together and sit in unison for each paper, throwing out everything they have learnt for the past 10 months on to 50 sheets of paper for each subjects for 3 hours. May God bless us and bring us through this time of unrest and fear of failing to achieve a better future. We won’t know. We won’t know until Christmas. That’s when the results for our performance will be released all at once.

Until that time comes, I have to worry about tomorrow. Well at least, they were kind hearted enough kick off the exams with English. Sweats off, it’s time for me to run! You won’t be seeing me for 2 weeks until the 18th of November when the last paper ends. So be patient for my return. Wish all of us SAM students luck!

Service! Service!!!

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Frustration, I Love Malaysia, Opinions — Guang @ 8:05 pm

Today, I had the most unenjoyable dinner ever! Never had anything like that in my entire life! I am now having mixed feelings of being disgusted and pissed off at the same time. Never felt so reluctant to pay for a dinner for the first time.

Just now, at approximately 6.45pm, my friend and I went to a restaurant that carries the name Island Cafe in the SS2 commercial area in Petaling Jaya. It was a newly opened restaurant so we just gave it a try. And you can be very sure with me that this will be the first and the last time I’m going to enter that place ever again!

First, we were greeted by a meager looking waitress. Asked how many people and pointed us to our table. Well, that was fine. You haven’t seen the worst part yet. As I was typing… We went to our tables and sat there. We noticed that the table was too high or is it the chair was too low. Well, never mind that. We sat there feeling uncomfortable waiting for a waiter to bring us the menu. Without a menu, no orders, no orders, no food. So we waited and waited and got fed up, and nearly wanted to “shout” for a waiter, one skimpy waiter came and asked us whether we already ordered our food. We were like “No!”. He left and came back 2 minutes later with 2 menus. Took him 2 minutes to grab a menu 5 meters away!

Just dropped the menu on the table and walked off. How nice mannered of him. Well, already feeling unhappy about the place, we looked into the menu and found out that the variety of food offered at the place was soooo yesterday. Choices of food was soooo not up to standard for the price they were charging for it. Then, we called a waiter to get our orders. Another terrible looking waiter came to us. Asked us have we written down our orders in the paper. We of course didn’t know what to do as first timers to the place. She just simply showed us what to do with a horrible attitude. Just looking at the waitress’s face just made me feel disgusted.

After finally getting into the jazz, we gave in our orders. Waited there again for food to be served. Waited and waited and waited for about 15 minutes, the drinks finally came! Wonderful! It takes 15 minutes for them to make peach lemonade and watermelon juice. That’s just wonderful! The drinks was so small! They charged me MYR3.90 for a small little glass of peach lemonade! OMG! That’s so not worth it…

The waiting continued again for another 15 minutes when the food finally came. At first sight, it looked dull. My fish and chips just looked plain cheap. A small little fish fillet, a small bowl of BBQ sauce, a table spoon of coleslaw with strips of cucumber and a slice of tomato, and skimpy little strips of French fries. And by the way, I saw in the menu, French fries were called French fried. What wonderful Manglish! Well, I had no choice but to order BBQ sauce because they don’t have tartar sauce in their menu and the other choice was Thai sauce. Well, I don’t even want to try that.

I cut a small piece of fish onto my fork and dipped it in the BBQ sauce and then slid it into my mouth. To the torture of my taste buds, it was the most yucky thing I’ve ever eaten with fish and chips. BBQ sauce doesn’t go with fish and chips. It was just hell. Thank goodness they didn’t pour the sauce on top of the fish if not I’ll be in hell eating that. Then we requested for some chili sauce. What’s western food without chili and tomato sauce. Another short and blur waitress came to our calling. We asked for our chili sauce and she went off and a few seconds later came back and asked what chili sauce we wanted. We were like “huh?”. There are different types of chili sauces? Well besides the Thai chili sauce which isn’t considered a sauce, what other chili sauce are there?! We told her,”normal” chili sauce. She went off again looking blur.

After 5 minutes, finally our “normal” chili sauce came in a small dish with ungenerous amounts of sauce in it. OMG! They’re really pissing me off! I just ate my fish and chips fast as I had no more mood to be in that place anymore. Swallowed everything and finished my selfish portion of peach lemonade and called the waiter for the bill. Instantly the bill came in just 30 seconds. I guess that the only area they’re efficient in, “collecting money” from customers. The bill mounted a total of MYR27.83 for 2 people!

OMG! So expensive. The place wasn’t air-conditioned, had horrible chairs and tables that didn’t match, and a horrible atmosphere. Gave the waitress waiting there MYR30.83 and she took the money and ran off. After waiting for like 5 minutes, my change of MYR3.00 finally came. What took them so long?! If they can bring a bill in 30 seconds why can;t they bring back my change in 1 minute?! I just took all the money and left the place as fast as I could leaving no tips behind. They don’t deserve tips.

To everyone reading this, if you do know or even if you don’t know where the hell is Island Cafe in SS2 Petaling Jaya, if your friends ever bring you there, stop them before it’s too late! You’ll regret it the minute you enter that place…
