It’s the summer solstice today. Being the naive and inexperienced Malaysian I am, this will be my first summer solstice! For those that are still as naive as me, solstice is the time of the year the amount of daylight is maximum or minimum. Now it’s summer so it’ll be the longest day of the year and the winter solstice will be the shortest.
So yeah, I’m now experiencing my longest day of the year! It does get quite annoying really. We are so used to the Malaysian daylight span. Now it’s already bright at 4 a.m. in the morning as if it’s already in the afternoon. Just because it gets bright so early in the morning, I get up every time it gets bright and have to check the time to make sure I’m not awake a tad too early and to find out after I’m all awake that it’s only 5 a.m. It happened several times already. It got bright, I woke up, got out of bed, brushed my teeth, washed up, changed my clothes and then to check the time that it’s only 5.40 a.m.!
It’s also difficult as the day is now longest, it’s still bright at 10 p.m. and only gets dark after 11 p.m. Every time it’s dinner time, I don’t feel hungry because at 8 p.m. it feels as if it’s only 4 p.m.! Very difficult indeed. My meal times are now all screwed up! Gahh! Snacking at dinner time, eating during supper and skipping breakfast! This is my life gone bad…
In other news, I’m going to Nottingham this Sunday! Yayy!!! And back on the 30th so that I can start moving my stuff into the house on the 1st!
*leaps with excitement*
I can’t wait to move in!! And also can’t wait to go back to Malaysia on the 3rd. That’s only 12 days away! Fatty crab here I come!
I’m sure at least 90% of all my friends have at least one account on one of dozens of different social networking sites out there on the net. Myself, I have 2 accounts. One on Friendster and Facebook respectively. However, I ain’t the guy that just add other people for the sake of just adding and increasing my friend’s list just show your “real” friends that I know 80% of the entire world.
This has happened countless of times on Friendster. I have no idea whether it’s just me or not but it seems that people from Indonesia likes to randomly add unknown people into their friend’s list. Seeing that I have no idea who, where and how they have any connection to me, I send them a short friendly message asking them for more details. Here’s how it sounds like:
Dear _________,
I am afraid that I have no knowledge whatsoever of your existence on Mother Earth and who you are in person.
Before I can approve your friend request on Friendster, I would like to know you more. Whether you are a family member of mine (I’ll have to admit my family is too big to know every single one of them), distant family relation, long lost friend (if you are, I apologize for not remembering who you are), or any kind of relationship you and I both have in common or you just want to start a new friendship.
I hope you can reply this message as soon as possible as I am eager and looking forward to know who you are exactly.
Please do not be afraid if this message intimidated you. I mean no harm and am just curious who you are exactly.
I look forward to receiving a nice and pleasant introduction of yourself soon. Until then, your friend request is held under view. Convincing and successful replies or introductions shall be approved in due course.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Nothing intimidating at all, don’t you think? Seems that many have been scared off by this friendly and innocent message to request for more personal details about ones self.
Making friends isn’t something I do everyday. Friends go through several stages of filtering and a little background check just to make sure I do mix with the right people. Personally, I think those that just mix around everywhere without any caution, they might just end up having a murderer, prostitute, drug addict, or rapist as a close friend and then there’s where the drama starts. To be honest, making friends from our neighbouring country, Indonesia, does put me on high alert (no offence or anything against Indons but reading news from Indon is very disturbing at times) although there’s a 99.99% chance that I will never ever ever ever meet that person face to face.
I know I’m a dull person. No drama in my life. Everything laid out in front of me, organized and well planned ahead for the future. Well, it’s good to be cautious, no? You’ll never know one of your friends in your friends might be a secret agent from some secret society trying to gather information against your will. LOL
Sorry guys for not blogging for sooo long although my finals were over over a week now. Have been extremely busy that past week. First I had to move out of Halifax Hall. Moving everything out of my room over to a friend’s place. 2 big luggage, 1 hand carry all bag, 1 bag pack, 10 small plastic bags, 1 huge duvet and 1 pillow! Moving out without a car is a logistical nightmare! Well, at least I started moving out weeks before my contract ended. So that gave me some time to relax before I had to move out. So now, after moving (twice!) I’m now over at my friend’s place who was more than kind enough to sympathise my homeless situation and offered my his place. I’m eternally grateful for this!
Well, what happened in the past week aside from moving my stuff around was me going to Manchester airport on Wednesday, 13th June, where 3 friends were going back to Malaysia. How I envy them. I too want to go home! Sadly, I can’t because I have to wait until the contract for my house begins on the 1st July which is still a loooooong way to go when I can chuck all my stuff into the house and then… Malaysia here I come!
*****
I has been raining here for almost 2.5 days straight. I rained quite heavily on Wednesday on the way back from Manchester. It looked like it rained as heavily as it did in Malaysia! But it didn’t last long. It then slowed down to a drizzle that lasted until this very second! English weather… Tsk tsk. Talking about rain, I’ve read the news that Kuala Lumpur is submerged under flood waters! Oh dear oh dear! I don’t want to go back to a submerged Malaysia! That’s like entering the hurricane ridden New Orleans or tsunami stricken Acheh disaster zone. Hopefully the flood waters will recede in due course.

Looking on the bright side, I’m going back to Malaysia in 18 days! I’ve already complied a list of what I want and must to do the minute I feet have contact with KLIA’s marble floor.
o far these are the 8 most important things I have to do before I leave for Cambodia on the 11th. Means I have only 1 week to accomplish these 8 tasks!

Oh, I’m going to Nottingham on the 24th to disturb Karen and her new (well, not that new anymore) found companion and then back to Sheffield on the 30th and the next day I can finally move into the new house! Yay! I can’t wait for that day to arrive! Lots of things to do again on the 1st. I have to go collect the keys to the house at the earliest possible time, move in my stuff into the house (not again! :S), get the wireless internet installed, unpack and sort out stuff in the room and finally clean up the house (if it’s dirty or messy) all before 3rd July. Woohoo! Busy busy busy!
Dududu
Less than 15 hours from this very moment, I will be evicted from Halifax Hall of Residence as my accommodation contract will be officially ending.
As I stare into my now almost empty room, it’s sad to leave but there’s that exciting feeling tucked into the corner of my head knowing that I’ll be moving into a new house next year!
New house, new term, new academic year and a whole new experience!
Well I guess it’ll be appropriate to say my last goodbyes to this place and welcome another whole new year!
It’s going to be a very hectic 3 weeks for me moving around and all until the 1st of July which by coincidence is also the smoking ban day where I’ll be officially moving into my new home for the 2007/2008 academic year!
I’ll miss my room and the people a lot. *hugs room* (if that’s even possible)
