Last Remaining Hours

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Time, Travel — Guang @ 11:58 pm

From now, I have 20 hours left here in the UK and 37 hours more to arrive in Malaysia. Been extremely busy the past few weeks and especially the past few days. In the previous post, I mentioned that I was going on a road trip to Edinburgh. It turned out fantastic and I enjoyed it immensely.

No time to blog about it yet but will once I arrive back in Malaysia and sleep off my jet lag. Lots of pictures to post too! *here is where you pretend to be very excited*

Until then, it’s time for me to pack and double and triple check that I’ve brought everything and not forgotten anything important.

Malaysia here I come!!!

6,666,666,666

Filed under: Announcements, Blahs, Time — Guang @ 10:34 am

According to the Worldometer website, the world’s population is set to pass SIX BILLION, SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX MILLION, SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX breathing humans within the coming few days. That’s 10 sixes in that digit. At the time I’m typing this post, it’s currently at 6,666,066,776.

With that, the number of the devil comes to mind, as in 2006, the 6th of June 2006 - 06/06/06 came and went without anything bad taking place. Probably something bad happened in some obscure place in the middle of the Papua New Guinean jungle but that doesn’t count!

We’ll wait and see what’ll happen (most probably nothing). The Mayans predicted that the world would end on the 21st of December 2012 where a dramatic cosmic shift would take place, hence we don’t have to worry that we’ll die this year. We still have four and half years left to live assuming that the myth is true. :P

Doomsday as depicted in the movie “The Day After Tomorrow”

Until then, BRACE YOURSELVES!

Goals - Take 2

Filed under: Announcements, Confessions, Time — Guang @ 10:49 pm

Once again, its time to update my goals that I would like to achieve within the next decade. As I grow older, I do realise the goals I last made almost 2 years ago in the post titled Aims of My Life, well, is ambitious, no doubt but doesn’t seem to be practical in one way or another.

My goals then were:

  1. Finish my degree with more than just a scroll of paper.
  2. Get a job in a multi-national company.
  3. Progress from an engineering oriented position to a management position.
  4. Earn my million before 26, and my second before 29.
  5. Open an Engineering firm in New York.
  6. Own a house in Beverly Hills.
  7. Own several more houses in other highly desirable areas of the globe.
  8. Retire before 50 and having more than enough assets to live the remaining of my life happily.
  9. Travel the world in 120 days.
  10. Live a happy life with a happy family.

Well, I am well within my range of achieving goal #1. Hooray! Goals #5 - #9, well, it’s ambitious and difficult to achieve but not really practical in any sense and admittedly somewhat immature and childish for some. Therefore, it is time for a revision!

So here it is, Aim’s of My Life - Take 2.

Another simple list of 10 updated, revised goals.

  1. Finish my degree with a First Class Honours
  2. Start a new innovative business with a close friend as a business partner
  3. Expand the business to rival other big companies, and if the opportunity arises, go global
  4. Own a car by 23
  5. Own a house by 25
  6. Make my million by 27
  7. Invest in the property market by 28
  8. Start a charity organisation
  9. Adopt a child
  10. Retire before 50

I’ve entirely removed the term family from my goals as the thought of getting married is just daunting for me at the moment. I might change my mind later on in life but for now, I’ll stick to not getting married anytime soon. Therefore, I’ve settled for an adopted child. I might have to rethink that again sometime in the future though. Until the time comes, I’ll stick to my goals.

About my engineering related job, I’m getting really tired to doing science my entire life. Since the day I started to remember, I did sciences. All through primary and secondary school, from college all the way to university, it was science all along. Unfortunately, it is that time when we get second thoughts of the decisions we’ve made in our past regarding our future.

I dread the day I have to start working. The day when the boss will order me around to perform tasks as his slave. The day where my prospects rely totally on a single person sitting in front of a mahogany table one floor above my cubicle desk.

Since I’ve started my management module this semester, I’ve grown to like it a lot. I am now more interested in the science of management above engineering sciences. Therefore the best way I can exploit my increasing interest in management is to start a business. And the best part is, I’ve found a close friend who shares the same aspiration! I’ve yet to break the news to my parents about my aspiration. Hopefully, they’ll accept and support me for this is what I truly want.

*crosses fingers*

Assuming that my parents totally support my decision, I hope to gain my million by 27. That’s approximately 5 years after the business is started. I guess that would be sufficient time for the business to grow and expand provided that our business models are strong, it should be more than sufficient.

#7 through #10, with the exception of #9, are minor goals which are likely to change in the future depending on the outcomes of #2 and #6.

Well, I guess that’s about it. Hopefully, I wouldn’t need to update this list anytime soon. Until then, I should focus on goal #1 which, in plan, should be achieved in July 2009.

Hello

Filed under: Blahs, Nostalgia, Time — Guang @ 4:59 pm

Hello again my nearly almost abandoned by me blog. It’s been too long since I last blogged. More than a week ago. To be honest, it’s been pretty quiet recently since almost everyone gone back home to Malaysia. Well, all I can say is that I’m going Birmingham next week! Woohoo!

Other than that very exciting news,  it’s the holidays! Been doing exciting things at home. Been using my right side of the brain more often the past few days. I realised that the house is totally bare! Walls all white and totally unappealing.

Well, my house mates and me gave the house a good make over. The living room is totally revitalised. Furniture moved around and decorations added to the walls and table tops. More pictures of it when the total make over of the house is complete.

The stairwell was not left behind either.

I would probably say that the stairwell now is the focus if the house! Our little stairwell is now a journey through the solar system. The journey includes all 8 planets, the Sun and also not forgetting our dearly neglected dwarf, Pluto. Accompanied by numerous stars, comets, amazing facts of the solar system, wise and funny quotes and also numerous Unidentified Flying Objects and aliens floating around the solar system.

Next up is another 2 more walls in the house. I would probably say that this make over project would last throughout the Easter holidays. Will definitely post pictures up the minute the make over is complete.

Until then… Namaste!

Seasons Greetings

It’s finally Christmas and I would like to wish a very Happy and Merry Christmas to you, you and you!

I must really say that 2007 really flew past both my eyes (I say this every year) and that I’m now a teen no more. Oh well, we all gotta grow up!

Oh we had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner as planned last night!

img_0483.jpg

That was out agreed menu and everything came out excellent! Woohoo! Roasted Lamb Leg is probably one of the best homemade roast I’ve ever eaten!

img_0509.jpg

Oh, I also had a “plan” which I didn’t reveal to my house mates that I was going to set the table with some Christmasy decorations. It turned out like that -

img_0498.jpg

Pretty good for my first time decorating, don’t you think so? Had good reviews last night! LOL

img_0513.jpg

This is Haagen Daz Bailey’s and Cookies and Cream ice-cream with crushed Maltesers and Chocolate sauce. It’s a little melted, I know… but it was goooooooood!!! Oh, that golden globe was my gift inside the cracker. At first I got a tweezers which I don’t actually use, so Karen willingly exchanged hers with mine and hence the Golden Globe Award!

We ate everything, enjoyed the moment and absorbed all the happy feelings surrounding us. Had more fun with the crackers and comparing our gifts hidden inside. After dinner, we played cards all the way till 3 a.m. Yes you heard it right, 3 A.M. Had good fun.

Merry Christmas everyone!

LIM GOH TONG

1917-2007

Today, our country has lost a great entrepreneur. Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, founder of Genting Berhad, owner of Malaysia’s first and only casino and also Malaysia’s highest theme park, third richest in Malaysia and 204th richest in the world, worth an estimated USD4.2 billion and father of 6.

His contributions to the country shall never be forgotten.

1.5 weeks

Filed under: Announcements, I Love Malaysia, Nostalgia, Time, Travel — Guang @ 12:24 pm

is all the time I have left in this lovely country I call home, Malaysia.

I am probably considered wasting precious time typing out this post right now as I should be outside enjoying my last few days here in Malaysia.

The people, the food, the company, the environment, the shopping malls, the driving and all other things that I might have missed out will be deeply missed and engraved into my memory throughout my stay there in Sheffield.

As I leave Malaysia for the 18 hour flight and transit throught Dubai to Manchester airport, I shall start all over again, a while new chapter of life in Sheffield Part 2 just as it was when I left Malaysia for Sheffield for the first time 1 year ago.

This time, I’ll be on the same flight to Dubai and Manchester. Same flight number, same airline, same time, same place, same airport, and the same people that flew with me with a few more friends tagging along this time.

As usual, I now have a new camera and of course, no one will be left out. Pictures will be posted here every now and then to update you guys on what’s happening around me in the UK.

I guess, the next post will most probably posted when I’m in Sheffield. Hopefully with pictures ready to be posted up.

As usual, here are some pictures for you to look in awe. :P
